USAF Elizabeth N. Jacobson Memorial Security Forces Challenge Coin Serial #105

This coin carries profound historical weight within modern military history. It serves as a lasting tribute to Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Nicole Jacobson (1984–2005), a member of the 17th Security Forces Squadron who volunteered for convoy security duty outside the wire during the Iraq War. On September 28, 2005, her vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) near Safwan, Iraq.
At just 21 years old, A1C Jacobson became:
• The first female Airman killed in the line of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
• The first Air Force Security Forces member to be killed in combat since the Vietnam War.
